Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Taylor has always been drawn to art. From four years old and using her cousin’s mascara to draw a face on the carpet and proudly announcing “I made a man!” to her horrified aunt and uncle, to taking painting and pottery classes at her neighborhood art studio in Casa Linda, and attending Booker T. Washington High School for The Performing and Visual Arts. She was the type of kid who loved reading, drawing and problem solving.
The Summer between her Junior and Senior year, she was accepted into both a week-long engineering camp for girls at Southern Methodist University and a month-long pre-college program at the Maryland Institute College of Art where she took architecture and product design. Upon graduating high school distinguished, as well as being yearbook designer, president of the Free Tibet Club, and a member of the National Art Honor Society, Taylor received several scholarship and grant offers and went on to attend the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio as a major in Industrial Design.
Her time in college was spent honing her graphic and product design expertise, working with the likes of Little Tikes and Stryker Medical as a research and design consultant, learning presentation skills, and building upon her artistic interests via an emphasis in printmaking.
In 2014, Taylor spent a semester abroad in Germany, just south of Berlin on one of the original Bauhaus campuses, working with luxury automotive company Audi, as well as, on toy design and infographic projects. Afterwards, she returned to school in Cleveland and her internship at a reclaimed wood furniture and design firm. She then graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, spent some time freelancing for a non-profit, then moved back to Texas, spending time in Austin interning, freelancing and working as a personal assistant. There she got into social media management that then lead to a position in Los Angeles where she became Marketing and Product Development Specialist for a local shoe startup.
